The centerpiece of the
new United States Courthouse Tower in Seattle was
a sloping, rolled stainless steel and granite monument,
with passages from the US Constitution embedded
in script. The script was designed to
look as though it was part of a reflection pool. The
challenge in documenting and building the sign was
in calculating the slope and its effect on the faceted
granite as well as the degree of bend on the one
inch thick stainless. The remarkable
result was lauded in HOW magazine as one of the
Outstanding Achievements in Environmental Graphic
Design in 2004. |
