CRĒO provided project management, fabrication and installation services for the exterior themed identification and wayfinding system for Disney’s Aulani Resort in Oahu, Hawaii. Signage was largely based on traditional Hawaiian Koa Wood Carpentry, but some signs were also fabricated to appear as lava rock and molten volcanic glass. CRĒO also provided other themed architectural elements including the ornate Gazebo that the Hotel utilizes as its primary wedding venue. The Koa wood theming was produced by applying and sculpting fiberglass over aluminum and urethane substrates. Theme painting of the wood grain was then added by our faux finish experts. Many of the directional messages were achieved by utilizing digital powder coat over aluminum substrates.
